Learning to navigate our feelings, big or small, starts with learning how our brain works. In this session for kids aged 6-12 years, we aim to teach children the hand model of the brain, enabling them to learn about the Fight-Flight-Freeze response in child-friendly language. The session will also introduce emotional vocabulary by guiding children to develop a Feelings Dictionary. The session will end with mindfulness activities, such as the 'My Peaceful Place' exercise or the 'Mind Jar.'
At Saaya Health, our mission is to increase access to mental health care. Recently, we had the privilige to launch a children's well-being journal aimed at imparting essential mental health knowledge to young minds. As a counselor and trainer with background in play therapy, my mission perfectly aligns with Saaya's. It brings me great joy to share these tools with kids, ensuring children can begin nurturing their minds early on, and what better platform than KWF to share this knowledge with more and more kids wanting to learn about keeping their minds happy.
