The Seaweed Paper Making workshop is for all ages. This is a simple handmade activity that provides an alternative and sustainable way to produce 'Tree-Free Paper' using seaweed pulp, wood pulp (made from leftover woodchips from carpenter shops), and leftover water (used after washing and bleaching seaweed and woodchips to save water). Don't worry! The bleaching process will not cause toxicity in the environment, as the procedure I use is neutralized in the end. I'll bring the prepared and safe seaweed pulp, wood pulp, and leftover water, and demonstrate how I save water.
I am a research student and being a marine biologist it is an obligation to work towards our environment and the life that it contains. In this fast urban world, where we have forgotten about nature and sustainability I trying to work towards the conservation of water, forest, and both marine and terrestrial life on an individual level and one day will be practised on a community level if we work learn and work together. Seaweeds are flora of marine ecosystem that drift to the shore. We can utilize the drifted seaweed in so many ways. One way that I love is making paper.
