In a 45-minute workshop, for kids 9-16 (older ones are welcome if they aren’t too cool for it), this workshop aims to demonstrate the plasticity of words and their somatic impact. Having access to vocabulary helps us better understand our feelings and makes it easier to verbalise our needs to others. We’ll also trying to understand the physical and emotional impact our words have on other people, and theirs on us, through a series of written and body exercises.
Mina Malik is an Oxford-trained writer and poet. She is the co-founder of Risala, a literary magazine for kids, and the host of Kahani Corner, an online storytelling programme. She’s taught writing and literature to students ranging from middle school to college, run writing workshops for the British Council and is a mom of four.
